On 19 July, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport achieved a historic milestone, operating with only one runway due to ongoing electrical infrastructure upgrades. The airport reached its highest-ever daily figures with 832 flights and 148,059 passengers.
In a statement by the airport operator HEAŞ (Airport Operation and Aviation Industries Inc.), it was noted that these figures mark a new peak in the history of Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The announcement also thanked all employees and stakeholders who contributed to this success, highlighting the efficiency and coordination of airport operations.
Runway 06R-24L, the airport’s second runway, has been temporarily closed for electrical infrastructure renewal works, scheduled to continue until 27 July. During this period, all take-offs and landings are being conducted on a single runway.
