Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) marked the busiest day in its history on Sunday, 27 July 2025, by breaking seven all-time records in passenger and flight traffic. Ranked as Europe’s 9th busiest airport, ISG once again demonstrated its strength both in Türkiye and in intercontinental air travel.
Thanks to its strategic location between Europe, Asia, and Africa, the airport has become a key hub and continues to successfully meet increasing demand, especially during the summer season. On 27 July, record-breaking figures were reached in several categories, particularly in international traffic.
Over 157,000 Passengers Served in a Single Day
ISG served a total of 157,630 passengers in just one day. On this record-setting day, the numbers for arriving and departing international passengers, as well as arriving international flights and total international flights, reached all-time highs.
-
Number of arriving international passengers: 44,446 (Previous record: 43,864 – 20 July)
-
Number of departing international passengers: 43,499 (Previous record: 41,969)
-
Total international passengers: 87,945 (Previous record: 85,833)
-
Number of international flights: 475 (Previous record: 469)
These figures clearly demonstrate how effectively ISG is utilising its international capacity and underscore its growing strength in international passenger traffic.
Passenger Flow Project Shows Its Impact
To efficiently manage the growing passenger traffic, ISG management launched a €34 million “Passenger Flow Improvement Project” last year, leading to major enhancements within the terminal. Through this project, both technological and operational upgrades have been implemented in security and passport control, offering travellers a faster and more comfortable experience.
The City’s Airport — A Top Choice for Travellers
