Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has denied the news claiming that Sabiha Gökçen Airport has been sold. The company stated that the share offer from a consortium led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad would not cause any changes in the operation of the airport.

Denial of Sabiha Gökçen Airport Sale Claims!

In response to the news published by some media outlets regarding the “sale” of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG), it has become necessary to make a statement. Our company, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), emphasized that the offer made by a consortium led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad (KNB) regarding our shareholding does not reflect the truth. The news was reported as “Sabiha Gökçen Airport is being sold for a massive $4 billion deal” in some press organs. However, these reports do not reflect the reality.

To inform the public accurately about the subject of the news;

The Gateway Development Alliance (GDA) consortium has made an offer to acquire 100% of our shareholding in Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB). This consortium is a group of investors formed under the leadership of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (KNB), the current main shareholder of the MAHB group. According to the offer from GDA, the EPF and Khazanah companies, which currently own approximately 40% of MAHB shares, will increase their shareholding to 70% after this transaction. The remaining 30% of MAHB shares will be shared by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

As can be seen in the details we shared; this offer is related to MAHB’s publicly traded shares and does not involve any operational or managerial changes at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Turkey’s second largest airport, continues to welcome its guests in the best possible way.

Respectfully announced to the public and stakeholders.
