Sabiha Gökçen Airport Announces 2025 Plan: New Flights on the Way!

The operator of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (ISG), Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), has announced ISG’s goals for 2025. MAHB Managing Director Dato’ Izani stated, “In 2025, we plan to focus on new destinations, particularly in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. This expansion will support the increase in passenger numbers while positioning our airport more strongly on the international stage.”

Record Passenger Numbers in 2024, Sustainable Growth Target for 2025

Highlighting significant growth in 2024, Izani emphasized the goal of making this growth sustainable and reaching 43.2 million passengers in 2025. “Rising passenger demand and improvements in service quality are the foundation of our success,” he said, stressing that ISG will continue strengthening its global flight network and increasing its share in the international market.

New Destinations, Enhanced Connectivity

Izani outlined plans to boost global connectivity by launching new flight routes in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe:

  • New routes will expand the airport’s global reach, offering passengers more travel options.
  • Increased flight frequency will enhance passenger capacity and improve the overall travel experience.
  • A growing flight network will make ISG a more attractive hub for international transfers.

Digitalization and Operational Efficiency Take Center Stage

To maintain ISG’s success, Izani highlighted three key strategic focuses:

  • Digitalization and Technology Integration: Strengthening digital infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Enhancing Passenger Experience: Expanding and modernizing terminal areas, particularly with the introduction of the T1 terminal, to provide more comfortable spaces.
  • Expanding Markets and Flight Networks: Strengthening partnerships with existing airlines and establishing connections with new carriers.

Contribution to the Local Economy and Tourism

Dato’ Izani emphasized that ISG’s expanding flight network will not only boost its global competitiveness but also have a significant impact on the local economy and tourism. “Every new destination will drive trade and tourism, providing positive contributions to the local economy,” he said.

ISG’s 2025 Goals

  • Targeting 43.2 million passengers
  • Increasing international market share
  • Enhancing service speed and quality through operational improvements
  • Progressing towards becoming a global aviation hub

ISG’s growth ambitions will strengthen Istanbul’s position in the global aviation sector while giving a new boost to Turkey’s aviation industry.
