An unusual incident occurred during a scheduled Ryanair flight from London to Kalamata, Greece. After landing and while taxiing to its parking position, the aircraft struck a perimeter fence.
According to reports, the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, part of Ryanair’s fleet, completed its descent and landing without issue. However, during taxiing on the apron, the aircraft’s right wingtip (lower winglet) made contact with the surrounding fence.
Despite the low-speed impact, the aircraft sustained visible and significant structural damage to its lower winglet. As a result, the aircraft’s planned return flight was cancelled and it was temporarily taken out of service.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew. Following the incident, Ryanair announced that it had launched a technical inspection and repair process in accordance with flight safety protocols.
Authorities stated that routine investigation procedures involving both ground services and the cockpit crew are currently underway to determine the cause of the collision.
