An Airbus A-321 operated by Ural Airlines, a Russian carrier, was forced to make an emergency landing at Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh Airport due to a technical malfunction just 10 minutes after takeoff. All 236 passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
Engine Failure Detected Shortly After Takeoff
According to a statement by Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, the aircraft was en route from Sharm El-Sheikh to Yekaterinburg, Russia. However, 10 minutes after takeoff, the pilot identified a technical issue in one of the engines and requested an emergency landing from air traffic control.
The aircraft landed safely at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport at 4:55 PM local time. Passengers were transferred without incident to the international terminal, and no injuries were reported.
Technical Investigation Underway
Following the incident, expert teams began investigating the cause of the technical malfunction. It was confirmed that the necessary repairs will be conducted to render the Airbus A-321 fit for flight once again.
