On Tuesday, 15 July, the Russian Ministry of Defence issued an official statement declaring that attempted drone attacks targeting Russian airspace were successfully intercepted by the country’s air defence systems. According to the statement, a total of 55 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed over Russian territory during the night.
The Ministry also provided details on the specific regions where the drones were shot down:

32 UAVs over the Belgorod region

12 UAVs over the Voronezh region

6 UAVs over the Black Sea coastline

3 UAVs over the Lipetsk region

1 UAV each over the Rostov and Kursk regions
The announcement was shared with the public through Russia-based Sputnik News Agency. The attempted drone incursions coincide with an intensifying phase of cyber and aerial operations in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
Russian officials emphasised that air defence measures would be further strengthened if similar threats persist. They also assured the public that there is currently no risk to the safety of local populations.
