An An-12 cargo plane lost control and crashed into a snowbank while landing at Novy Urengoy Airport in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
The An-12 (RA-11371) aircraft, operated by Atran Airlines, took off from Sabetta and attempted to land at 11:14 Moscow time. Due to damage to the left landing gear, the plane lost balance and veered off the runway. The aircraft overturned as the left landing gear failed to lock.
Following the accident, Novy Urengoy Airport was temporarily closed to flights. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
