Pegasus Airlines’ CTO, Barış Fındık, announced that the use of generative AI has enabled the company to reduce ticket prices by up to 30%. Highlighting that AI algorithms are employed to predict flight occupancy and implement dynamic pricing strategies, Fındık also revealed that personalized travel plans can now be offered to customers using AI technology.
A Revolution in Aviation Through Artificial Intelligence
The rapid advancement of AI technologies in recent years has led to a major transformation in the aviation industry. Generative AI and optimization technologies, in particular, are revolutionizing areas ranging from ticket pricing to flight safety. Smart systems improve operational efficiency and provide passengers with innovative solutions.
During an appearance on Bloomberg HT’s Agenda Technology program, Pegasus Airlines CTO Barış Fındık emphasized the critical role of these technologies in transforming airlines. He stated, “In the aviation sector, we leverage technologies that enable operational efficiency, offer affordable tickets, and provide an excellent customer experience.”
Personalized Travel Plans and AI Integration
Pegasus is elevating customer experience through AI. “We have been utilizing AI for a long time, but now we have transitioned from traditional AI to generative AI,” said Fındık. “Our customers can plan their trips using ChatGPT, which provides optimal ticket prices and travel alternatives.”
He also explained how visual processing technologies allow food and beverages on planes to be counted within seconds before each flight, streamlining pre-flight operational processes.
Dynamic Ticket Pricing Optimization with AI
Fındık shared insights into their ticket pricing process, stating, “AI allows us to reduce ticket prices by up to 30%. While dynamic pricing systems generally increase prices as planes fill up, we also offer an optimized pricing system for last-minute bookings. AI algorithms estimate the occupancy rate of the plane and adjust ticket prices in real time.”
Silicon Valley Tech Initiatives and Collaborations
Pegasus Airlines has made a significant move in the tech world by establishing a Technology Innovation Center in San Francisco. Fındık noted that the center will bolster Pegasus’s global technology strategies: “At this center, we aim to acquire companies developing aviation technologies, collaborate with startups, and partner with leading universities worldwide for joint projects.”
Additionally, the company plans to integrate technological advancements at an early stage by collaborating with global tech giants such as Oracle, Microsoft, and Apple.
