A rabbit spotted on the runway at Sabiha Gökçen Airport caused a brief disruption to air traffic. A Pegasus Airlines flight operating the Ercan–Istanbul route had to abort its landing and perform a go-around after the pilot reported seeing a rabbit on the runway during final approach.
The incident occurred recently when the pilot of a passenger aircraft preparing to land noticed a rabbit near the runway. The pilot immediately informed air traffic control, triggering safety procedures. During a detailed inspection of the runway, another Pegasus Airlines aircraft preparing to land was instructed to go around as a precautionary measure.

In the radio communication between the pilot and the control tower, the air traffic controller’s request for the rabbit’s approximate location drew attention. “Sir, if you can roughly indicate where you saw the rabbit, we will have it checked,” was heard in the exchange.
Following inspections by airport authorities, it was confirmed that there was no further threat on the runway, and air traffic quickly returned to normal.
