Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Qatar Airways has announced the temporary suspension of its flights to Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon. The airline also stated that operational changes would be made to flights to Jordan.
In a statement, Qatar Airways said, “Due to the current situation in the region, Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended flights to Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon until further notice.” Additionally, flights to Amman, Jordan’s capital, will only be conducted during daylight hours. This decision follows the escalating regional tensions caused by Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as Iran’s declaration of retaliation for an attack in early October.
Other Airlines Also Suspend Flights to the Middle East
Due to the ongoing conflict, several international airlines are suspending flights or adjusting routes for safety reasons. Turkish Airlines (THY) and Pegasus both announced yesterday that they had already suspended flights to Lebanon due to security concerns, and they have now temporarily halted their flights to Iran as well. Pegasus has suspended flights to Tehran, Shiraz, and Isfahan until November 1, while THY has also stopped flights to various cities in Iran until the same date.
