Qatar Airways Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing at Sabiha Gökçen on One Engine

A Qatar Airways passenger aircraft operating the Doha–Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen route declared an emergency mid-air due to an engine malfunction. Following the technical issue that occurred while flying over Bursa, the aircraft successfully landed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport using a single engine.

The incident took place at around 19:10. According to reports, the Qatar Airways flight departing from Doha experienced a failure in one of its engines after entering Turkish airspace and cruising over Bursa. In response to the technical fault, the pilot contacted air traffic control and declared an emergency.

After briefly circling in the air, the aircraft was directed to land at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. During this time, under the coordination of Airport Management and Aviation Industries Inc. (HEAŞ), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) teams, along with medical crews, were placed on standby on the apron.

The aircraft landed safely on the runway using a single engine without any issues. The ARFF teams towed the aircraft to its parking position within approximately eight minutes. No injuries were reported in the incident. However, due to the engine failure, the return flight from Istanbul to Doha was cancelled.

Authorities have launched a technical investigation into the incident, while the airline has made alternative arrangements to minimise inconvenience for passengers.
