President Erdoğan’s Good News for Trabzon: “We Will Build Our Third Airport on the Sea”

President Erdoğan inaugurated 130 projects in Trabzon worth ₺13.5 billion. He announced that the tender for the new Trabzon Airport will be held this year and that the third airport to be built on the sea will rise in Trabzon.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements at the mass opening ceremony of 130 completed facilities and projects in Trabzon. Erdoğan announced that the tender for the new airport to be built on the sea in Trabzon will be held this year, and construction works will begin in 2026.

“Trabzon Airport Can No Longer Meet the Demand”

Speaking at the ceremony held at Hayri Gür Sports Hall, President Erdoğan noted that the current Trabzon Airport has become inadequate and said:

“I know that Trabzon Airport is struggling to meet the demand. We have completed the new project, and, God willing, we will hold its tender this year. We plan to start construction next year. Thus, we will build our third airport on the sea in Trabzon.”

₺13.5 Billion Investment, 130 New Projects

President Erdoğan stated that the total value of the investments made in Trabzon amounts to ₺13.514 billion.

“I congratulate our ministries, municipalities, and institutions that contributed to the successful completion of these projects. We have made the largest investments in Trabzon’s history and delivered essential services. Over the past 23 years, we have realised public investments worth ₺540 billion in Trabzon.”

Erdoğan mentioned that many projects, including the Kanuni Boulevard Boztepe Tunnel, the Beşikdüzü–Tonya Road, Trabzon City Hospital, the light rail system, the high-speed train line, urban transformation projects, and infrastructure works, have either been completed or are ongoing.

New Services in Education, Health, and Infrastructure

President Erdoğan stated that 19 hospitals and 64 healthcare facilities have been completed in Trabzon, while construction of the 9,000-bed Trabzon City Hospital continues. He also noted the completion of concrete road paving projects worth ₺183 million, as well as new schools, sports halls, and youth centres.

Message on Gaza: “Israel Must Stand by Its Signature”

Touching on foreign policy and current issues, Erdoğan drew attention to the reconstruction process in Gaza following the ceasefire:

“Israel must stand by the agreement it signed. Gaza must be rebuilt before winter sets in. As Turkey, we will do our part in this process.”

Criticism of the Opposition

Erdoğan also criticised CHP Chairman Özgür Özel’s statements abroad, saying:

“You feel no shame in criticising your own country in front of foreigners. If you cannot be of benefit to your homeland, at least do not cause harm.”
