In a statement from the Directorate of Communications’ Centre for Combating Disinformation (DMM), it was noted that the national combat aircraft KAAN and the national engine development programme are progressing in line with the vision, determination, and will of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In the announcement shared on DMM’s social media account, it was emphasised that the claims in certain media outlets and on social media alleging that “President Erdoğan was either not informed or misinformed about the engines of KAAN aircraft” are products of disinformation.
The statement said: “Our President, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as Chairman of the Defence Industry Executive Committee, is directly leading strategic investments. The national combat aircraft KAAN and the national engine development programme are progressing under the coordination of our Presidency of Defence Industries and through the dedicated efforts of Turkish engineers.”
DMM described the allegations that the President was misinformed about strategic investments as “a clear disinformation attempt targeting the Presidency.” It underlined the importance of the public not giving credit to speculations on such a strategic issue as the national defence industry, and of taking into account only the statements made by official institutions.
