The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) announced that an aircraft operating the Diani–Kichwa Tembo route crashed in the Kwale region.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) reported that a plane carrying 12 people crashed in the Kwale region, near the country’s coast. According to the statement, the aircraft disappeared from radar and crashed at around 5:30 a.m. local time (02:30 GMT) while en route from the coastal town of Diani to the Kichwa Tembo resort located within a game park.
According to reports in Kenyan media, the plane was carrying tourists and caught fire after crashing in an area close to a residential zone. Eyewitnesses stated that debris was scattered across the area following the crash and that numerous rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.
Cause of the Crash Under Investigation
In a statement, the KCAA said that government agencies had launched an investigation at the crash site to determine the cause and assess the impact of the incident. Officials noted that details of the accident would be shared with the public following technical evaluations.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the crash site, while no official statement has yet been made regarding the condition of the passengers on board.
