An Airbus A320-200, registered as AP-BLC and operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), was performing flight PK-203 from Lahore (Pakistan) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) when one of its engines (CFM56) malfunctioned due to a bird strike during takeoff. Following the incident, the crew leveled the aircraft at 3000 feet to assess the situation.
Emergency Return to Lahore
Approximately 35 minutes after departure, the aircraft returned to Lahore in accordance with safety protocols, landing safely on runway 36R. The affected engine underwent a borescope inspection by technical teams.
Delayed Flight with Replacement Aircraft
To minimize passenger inconvenience, PIA deployed a backup Airbus A320-200, registered as AP-BLS. The replacement aircraft reached Dubai with a delay of approximately 5.5 hours.
Aircraft Returns to Service After 45.5 Hours
After completing maintenance and inspections, the incident aircraft resumed service approximately 45.5 hours after landing. Authorities confirmed that a detailed inspection of the engine had been completed and operational safety was ensured.
