Pegasus Makes History: A Massive Order of 200 Aircraft with Boeing!

Pegasus Airlines has signed a groundbreaking new order with Boeing for a total of 200 aircraft to further strengthen its fleet in line with its growth targets. The first aircraft from this order will join Pegasus’ fleet starting in 2028.

This marks the largest order in the company’s history to date.

Pegasus Airlines, renowned for having the youngest fleet in Turkey and consistently expanding its fleet with next-generation aircraft, has taken a bold step towards becoming a leading global player. Following extensive studies to address its aircraft needs for 2028 and the subsequent decade, the airline has signed an agreement with Boeing for 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The agreement includes a firm order for 100 aircraft to be delivered starting in 2028 and an additional purchase option for up to 100 more planes, which can be converted into firm orders in subsequent years. The total value of the order, based on current list prices, stands at approximately $36 billion USD.

This historic order not only supports Pegasus’ growth objectives but also aligns with its strategy to achieve its 2050 sustainability goals. The agreement with Boeing underscores the strong and strategic collaboration between the two parties in the aviation industry. It also represents a significant step in fostering and enhancing strong partnerships both nationally and internationally.

CEO Güliz Öztürk on the Historic Agreement

Commenting on the agreement, Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk stated, “As a key player in the tourism sector—one of Turkey’s leading industries that has been breaking records and growing rapidly post-pandemic—we are working tirelessly in our field to set new records and contribute to the goal of welcoming 100 million tourists and generating $100 billion in revenue. In line with our objectives to grow both domestically and internationally by expanding our flight network with new routes, we continue to invest in our fleet. Currently, with an average fleet age of 4.5 years, we have the youngest fleet in Turkey and are among the global leaders in this regard.

Through this agreement with Boeing, we have placed an order for a total of 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The first 100, part of the firm order, will begin joining our fleet in 2028. For the remaining 100, we will assess converting the options into firm orders based on market conditions and fleet needs in the coming years. Boeing aircraft have been an integral part of our operations since Pegasus entered the aviation sector in 1990, and we are excited to expand our fleet with the new Boeing 737-10 models.

We firmly believe this collaboration will create new opportunities in local production, technology transfer, R&D, education, and employment in Turkey’s aviation industry. This order is also an extension of Boeing’s 2017 National Aerospace Initiative (NAI) with our government, which is expected to open doors for Turkish manufacturers and the aviation industry, enabling new production and export opportunities.”

A Major Step Toward Efficiency and Sustainability

As the largest single-aisle jet in Boeing’s 737 MAX family, the Boeing 737-10 offers exceptional efficiency for short and medium-haul flights. Equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B engines, the Boeing 737-10 reduces fuel consumption by 20% compared to previous-generation aircraft. Capable of seating up to 230 passengers, it features a spacious cabin and larger overhead compartments, providing a more comfortable travel experience.
