Pegasus Airlines, one of Turkey’s leading carriers, has released its traffic results and carbon emission statistics for November 2024. The company stated that the jet fuel emission coefficient used for calculating carbon emissions was set at 3.16 gCO₂/RPK for the base year and all reporting periods. This factor has been applied since January 2024, and monthly emissions data for previous years have also been updated.
November 2024 Traffic Performance
In November 2024, Pegasus reported a 20% increase in passenger numbers, reaching 3.04 million. The number of seats offered grew by 18% year-on-year, totaling 3.49 million seats. The load factor rose from 85.4% to 87.0%, marking a 1.6 percentage point increase. Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK) reached 5.3 billion kilometers, a 21% year-on-year rise.
On an annual basis, the number of passengers increased from 29.34 million to 34.38 million, a 17% growth. Seats offered rose from 34.57 million to 39.11 million, reflecting a 13% year-on-year increase. The load factor improved from 84.9% to 87.9%. Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) increased from 53.514 billion kilometers to 61.287 billion kilometers, marking a 15% rise.
Update on Carbon Emissions
Pegasus emphasized its commitment to environmental responsibility by adopting the emission coefficient of 3.16 gCO₂/RPK for its carbon emissions calculations. This new factor, applied as of January 2024, was also used to update emissions data for previous years. For November 2024, carbon emissions per flight were recorded at 58.3 grams of CO₂.
Overall Performance and Future Expectations
Pegasus highlighted significant growth in both domestic and international traffic during the first quarter of 2024. Domestic load factors increased from 88.0% to 91.7%, while international load factors improved from 83.1% to 85.8%. Available Seat Kilometers grew by 15% in domestic flights and 14% in international flights.
