Passenger Traffic Declines, Cargo Transportation Surges at Süleyman Demirel Airport

The 2024 statistics for Süleyman Demirel Airport have been announced. While passenger traffic experienced a decline, the number of flights increased. Notably, there was a significant rise in cargo transportation.

Flight Numbers Up, Passenger Numbers Down

According to the 2024 flight traffic data for Süleyman Demirel Airport, a total of 26,507 flights were conducted, marking a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

On the other hand, passenger traffic saw a 7% decrease. While 82,548 passengers used the airport in 2023, this number dropped to 76,401 in 2024.

Record Growth in Cargo Transportation

Despite the drop in passenger traffic, the airport achieved a remarkable increase in cargo transportation.

  • In 2023: 2 tons of cargo were transported.
  • In 2024: This figure skyrocketed 18 times to 37 tons.

However, commercial flights showed a decline. While 638 commercial flights were recorded at Süleyman Demirel Airport in 2023, this number fell by 13% to 554 in 2024.

Decline in Baggage Handling

Baggage handling also saw a decrease.

  • In 2023: 933 tons of baggage were handled.
  • In 2024: This number dropped by 13%, recording 816 tons.
