An Embraer 195-E2 passenger aircraft operated by Brazil-based Azul Linhas Aéreas became stuck on the ramp during a pushback manoeuvre at Fernando de Noronha Airport. The aircraft’s rear landing gear sank into the weak asphalt surface, rendering it immobile.
Flight AD4719 Affected
The incident occurred on 23 June 2025 during preparations for flight AD4719 to Recife. In an official statement, the airline said:
“During the pushback operation, our aircraft’s rear landing gear became lodged in the asphalt surface of the ramp. All passengers were safely disembarked, assisted, and rebooked onto alternative flights.”
Technical Investigation Underway
Authorities confirmed that the aircraft was safely removed from the site and is currently undergoing a detailed technical inspection. Assessments of the damage to the airport apron surface are also ongoing.
Passenger Safety a Priority
Azul Airlines emphasised that all passengers are in good health and that flight safety remains their top priority. No injuries were reported in the incident.
