New Delhi: A disruption occurred on an IndiGo flight from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to Bengaluru after a passenger opened the emergency exit door before takeoff. The incident happened after all passengers had boarded and the cabin crew had begun the pre-flight safety demonstration.

Chaos Ensues as Passenger Opens Emergency Exit

Following the commotion onboard, pilots and the cabin crew activated standard operating protocols. The passenger responsible for opening the emergency exit was detained and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Passenger Claims It Was Accidental

Siraj Kidwai, an Axis Bank employee, later stated that he had opened the door by mistake. As per safety procedures, the cockpit received an immediate alert upon the emergency exit being triggered, and security personnel escorted the passenger off the aircraft.

In an official statement, IndiGo said:

“Today, before the departure of flight 6E 6033 from Jodhpur to Bengaluru, a passenger opened the emergency exit door. The crew promptly followed standard operating procedures, removed the passenger from the aircraft, and handed him over to law enforcement authorities. We regret any inconvenience caused to the other passengers and reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest safety and security standards across all our operations.”

Incident Causes Flight Delay

The event resulted in a 20-minute delay in the flight’s departure and caused disruption onboard. The passenger is currently being interrogated by CISF personnel at the Jodhpur airport police station.
