Panic on Alaska Airlines Flight! Passenger with Psychosis Causes Chaos
An incident on Alaska Airlines Flight 2221 from Oakland, California, to Portland caused panic among passengers. A male passenger, reportedly suffering from psychosis, grabbed a woman’s hair from the back seat during takeoff and refused to let go. The chaos ended when a flight attendant intervened.
Brave Intervention by the Flight Attendant
The incident occurred on February 1 while the aircraft was taxiing for takeoff. According to eyewitnesses, the male passenger began displaying erratic behavior and suddenly started banging his head against the seat in front of him. The woman later stated that the attacker grabbed her hair without any warning or apparent reason and refused to release it.
Realizing the situation, a flight attendant quickly intervened. Footage shows the attendant punching the man until he released the woman. According to passengers, the flight attendant’s swift response prevented the woman from suffering further harm.
Victim: “I Lost Consciousness”
The female passenger reported that the man forcefully hit his head against the seat and that she briefly lost consciousness during the incident. When she regained awareness, she realized he was still holding her hair. After the incident, security personnel removed the passenger from the plane, and authorities later confirmed that he had psychological disorders and was taken into custody.
Statement from the Airline
Alaska Airlines released a statement emphasizing that passenger safety is their top priority and commended the flight attendant for their heroic intervention. Airline officials also assured that necessary measures were being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
