A joke about a bomb on an AJet aircraft preparing to depart for Diyarbakır from Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport sparked panic and led to a delayed flight. Three passengers were detained as a result of the incident.
Around 8:00 a.m., just before takeoff, a conversation among passengers aboard an AJet flight scheduled for Ankara to Diyarbakır caused alarm. A joke referencing a bomb made by three passengers was taken seriously by the cabin crew, who immediately notified the pilot.
Police Deployed, Bomb Search Conducted
Following the alert, security forces were dispatched to the aircraft. All passengers were evacuated, and police teams conducted a thorough bomb search. No threats or dangerous items were found. However, the three individuals who made the joke were detained and escorted to the terminal for questioning.
Flight Delayed
Due to the incident, the flight to Diyarbakır was delayed. Authorities reported that legal proceedings would be initiated following statements from the detained individuals.
