Havelsan, one of Turkey’s leading defence industry companies, has developed a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for security forces. Produced under the leadership of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB), the “Bulut” UAV stands out with its ability to operate in harsh weather conditions and its extended flight duration.
6 Hours of Continuous Flight
Powered by an internal combustion engine, Bulut can stay airborne for up to 6 hours and features GNSS-independent detection and tracking capabilities. The UAV can operate in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, and strong winds, enhancing the operational capabilities of security forces.
Wide Range of Applications
With a 5-kilogram payload capacity, Bulut can be actively used in reconnaissance, surveillance, and security operations. Capable of transmitting data up to 80 kilometres, the UAV will play a critical role in areas like border security, counter-terrorism, search and rescue, and the protection of energy infrastructure.
Runway-Free Take-off and Advanced Safety Features
Equipped with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability, Bulut can launch without the need for a runway. The UAV is fitted with advanced security systems, including:
- Collision avoidance and object detection,
- Protection against electronic jamming (anti-jamming),
- Fully autonomous flight and mission handover capabilities.
Statements from Officials
Muhittin Solmaz, Deputy General Manager of Havelsan Simulation, Autonomous Technologies, and Platform Management, stated that experience gained from the Baha UAV significantly contributed to Bulut’s development.
Veysel Ataoğlu, Havelsan’s Product Development Manager, noted that they are working on different versions of Bulut based on field feedback.
