New Steps for Collaboration Between Turkish Airlines and Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Aldabergenuly Bozumbayev, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev, and their delegation visited the Turkish Airlines General Management Building to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

31 Years of Flights to a Friendly and Brotherly Nation

Turkish Airlines’ connection with Kazakhstan began in 1992. The airline conducted its first flight to the country on 25 May 1992 and currently operates 29 flights per week to four different cities in Kazakhstan. These strong ties contribute significantly to deepening relations with the friendly and brotherly nation of Kazakhstan.

The Shining Star of the Caspian Sea: Aktau

One of the key topics discussed during the visit was projects aimed at developing the city of Aktau, which holds great potential along the Caspian Sea. Added to Turkish Airlines’ flight network as its 255th destination in 2021, Aktau boasts significant tourism and economic potential.

Kazakhstan’s plans to establish an Aviation, Logistics, and Aircraft Maintenance Hub in Aktau were met with enthusiasm during the discussions. Turkish Airlines officials expressed their willingness to contribute to the project by sharing knowledge and expertise. They also offered support for training personnel to be employed at the centre.

Collaboration in Air Cargo and Logistics

The meeting also evaluated the transport of cargo arriving in Kazakhstan from China via road and rail through Aktau, and further by air cargo to Istanbul and other global destinations. This plan aims to enhance the strategic importance of the region in terms of trade and logistics. Additionally, the idea of developing joint tourism packages to increase the tourism potential of Aktau and Kazakhstan was also discussed.

Great Enthusiasm for Future Partnerships

Turkish Airlines representatives expressed their satisfaction with the visit of the Kazakh delegation, emphasising that the ties between the two nations are rooted in shared heritage and that further strengthening these bonds represents a great opportunity for both countries.

Thanking Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Aldabergenuly Bozumbayev, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev, and the entire Kazakh delegation, Turkish Airlines officials announced their agreement to reconvene in the coming months to evaluate further steps for cooperation.
