Chairman of Pegasus Airlines Mehmet Nane: “We’re Acquiring 16 New Aircraft in 2024, and We’ll Continue Adding New Routes”
Pegasus Airlines Chairman Mehmet Nane discussed the company’s growth plans and future goals in an interview with Bloomberg HT. Nane highlighted that they are expanding their fleet, adding 16 new aircraft in 2023 and planning for another 16 in 2024. He emphasized that they have faced no challenges with aircraft financing thus far.
Pegasus Targets 60 Million Tourists
Pegasus aims to deliver a strong performance in the tourism sector this year. Nane shared that they hosted 56 million passengers in 2022 and expect to reach 60 million in 2023. Noting the high passenger demand in the third quarter due to seasonality, Nane stated that Pegasus increased its sales and delivered a robust performance during the peak season.
Continued Growth Through New Flight Routes
Nane also noted that Pegasus is expanding by introducing new routes, carefully selected based on load factors. “Our new routes must be viable; it’s crucial for efficiency that the planes travel at full capacity,” he said, emphasizing that each new route should contribute to the company rather than create losses.
2024 Summer Season Already Planned
Nane stated that they began preparing for next year’s summer season as early as October. “With new routes, capacity increases, and additional aircraft joining the fleet, we aim for high performance during the summer season,” he announced, adding that Pegasus will continue to add new routes in the coming period.
