The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has announced that restrictions on the use of Pakistani airspace by Indian civil and military aircraft have been extended for another month. The airspace ban will now remain in effect until 23 July 2025.
Access Denied for All Indian Aircraft
According to the newly issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), all civil and military aircraft that are registered in, owned, operated, or leased by India are temporarily banned from entering Pakistani airspace. The restriction applies to all of Pakistan’s airspace, including the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIR).
Initial Ban Began in April 2025
Pakistan first implemented the airspace restriction on 24 April 2025. Since then, the ban has been regularly extended through successive NOTAMs. With the latest update, the restriction has been officially extended until 23 July.
Tensions Disrupt Regional Air Traffic
Experts highlight that the restriction is affecting not only the two countries but also broader South Asian air traffic. Flights between the Middle East and India are particularly impacted, with longer routes and increased fuel costs being reported.
Advisory to Airline Operators
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has reminded Indian airlines and flight operators to plan alternative routes while the ban remains in effect.
