Sichuan Airlines, one of China’s leading carriers, has expanded its international network by launching a new route between Chengdu and Athens via Istanbul. Scheduled to operate four times a week, this new route increases air connectivity between China and Türkiye while further strengthening the regional role of Istanbul Airport, which serves as a strategic bridge on the Europe–Asia corridor.
In a statement from İGA Istanbul Airport, the operator noted that this new route by Sichuan Airlines will create significant opportunities in both tourism and trade. The flight offers Chinese travellers a more flexible and faster connection to Europe, while once again highlighting Türkiye’s growing global role in air transportation.
