National Jet HÜRJET Certified with International Accreditations

Developed by TUSAŞ, the national jet HÜRJET has obtained DOA and POA certifications, achieving international aviation standards. The first deliveries will be made to the Turkish Air Force in 2027.

Türkiye’s First Jet-Powered Aircraft HÜRJET Crosses a Historic Milestone with International Certifications

HÜRJET, Turkey’s first manned jet-powered aircraft developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ), has achieved a major milestone by receiving the Design Organization Approval (DOA) and Production Organization Approval (POA) certificates, both of which carry critical importance in the international arena.

President of Defence Industries Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün announced the development with the following words:

“HÜRJET, the unique child of our skies, has successfully passed another strategic milestone in its certification journey.
The DOA and POA certificates represent the recognition of our national aviation vision at international standards. This achievement is not only a technical success but also a historic step towards independent skies.”

International Recognition

In a ceremony held by the Certification Board, which included experts from the Presidency of Defence Industries and the Turkish Air Force Command, HÜRJET was awarded these certificates. With this, the aircraft’s design and production capabilities were officially accredited in line with European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.

In a statement by TUSAŞ, it was noted:

“Our efforts continue at full speed to further strengthen our place in the skies of the future.”

Why It Matters

  • DOA (Design Organization Approval): Certifies international competence in aircraft design, testing, validation, and certification processes.

  • POA (Production Organization Approval): Confirms that the production process meets global aviation requirements in terms of quality and safety.

Delivery Timeline

The first HÜRJET delivery is planned for early 2027 to the Turkish Air Force. Initially, 4 Block 0 aircraft will enter service, followed by 12 Block 1 units. Deliveries to Spain, the first export customer, are scheduled to begin in 2028.

HÜRJET’s Technical Features and Project Goals

  • Role: Jet trainer and light attack aircraft

  • First Flight: 25 April 2023

  • Engine: General Electric F404-GE-102 turbofan

  • Maximum Speed: Mach 1.4

  • Maximum Altitude: 45,000 ft (13,700 m)

  • Range: 2,222 km
