The National Combat Aircraft KAAN has once again demonstrated both the technological and economic strength of Türkiye’s defence industry to the world. Speaking at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) held at the Istanbul Expo Center, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the agreement for the sale of 48 KAAN jets to Indonesia has been officially concluded.
Bolat: “We’ve made history in exports”
Minister Bolat described this major deal as “the largest defence industry export in the history of our Republic.” In his statement shared on social media, he said:
“Our National Combat Aircraft KAAN has made history not only in our skies but also in the field of exports. This development is a clear manifestation of the international recognition of our determination for domestic and national production.”

“State wisdom meets national resolve”
Minister Bolat highlighted the convergence of Türkiye’s foreign trade vision with its national technology initiative, stating:
“The resolve of our nation, forged with faith, has come together with the wisdom of the state. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we are decisively moving toward a Türkiye that is strong in exports and independent in defence.”
Emphasising that the Ministry of Trade is mobilising all its resources to ensure that every locally developed product in Türkiye finds its rightful place in global markets, Bolat also hinted that new successes in defence exports are on the horizon.
