Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu: “We Work with the Consciousness of Sacrificing Ourselves to Protect HÜRJET”

At the UDHAM&ARUS Collaboration Summit held in Ankara, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu highlighted a heroic moment following a terrorist attack on TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries) and shared updates on Turkey’s latest transportation infrastructure developments. Recalling the effort to protect the HÜRJET aircraft produced by TUSAŞ, Minister Uraloğlu stated, “Our young people covered the aircraft with tarps to prevent any harm to HÜRJET in case the terrorists entered. This shows that nothing can deter our determination.”

Turkey’s Role as a Global Producer in Industry and Transportation

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that, thanks to breakthroughs over the last 22 years, Turkey has advanced its domestic industries in defense, transportation, electronics, and telecommunications, becoming a global producer. He noted significant progress in the production of communication and observation satellites, fighter jets, helicopters, and electric trains, adding that Turkey aims to have a stronger voice on the international stage with these advancements.

Turkey Ranks Among World’s Leading High-Speed Train Operators

Regarding railway projects, Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that since 2003, railways have been adopted as a state policy, and Turkey is now the 6th largest high-speed train operator in Europe and 8th in the world. He stated that the existing railway network has been expanded by approximately 3,000 kilometers, reaching a total of 13,919 kilometers, significantly strengthening Turkey’s transportation infrastructure.

Turkey’s First Indigenous Driverless Metro Vehicle Hits the Tracks

Minister Uraloğlu also highlighted that transportation vehicles such as locomotives, diesel and electric train sets, and passenger and freight wagons are produced domestically to international standards. He announced that Turkey’s first indigenous and national driverless metro vehicle, with a 70% localization rate, has been launched, along with the implementation of a local and national metro signaling system.

National Commuter Train Set to Be Used in Gaziray

Turkey’s National Commuter Train Set, currently in production, is expected to be completed by the end of the year and put into service on the Gaziray line in Gaziantep. Minister Uraloğlu noted that this project underscores Turkey’s strength in the transportation sector and its domestic production capabilities.

Development Road Project: Aiming for Uninterrupted Access to Europe

Minister Uraloğlu also discussed the Development Road Project, which aims to establish an uninterrupted land and rail route from Iraq’s FAV Port to London. He revealed plans to enhance the railway infrastructure along the 2,094-kilometer route, forecasting significant growth in Turkey’s railway industry and export capacity through this project.
