The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) of Quebec, Canada, has announced that a passenger infected with measles was aboard a flight arriving in Montreal from Istanbul. Public health officials have issued a critical warning for passengers and individuals present at the airport.
Passenger with Measles on Flight TK35
On 7 May 2025, Turkish Airlines flight TK35 landed at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport at 17:37. According to an official statement from the MSSS, one of the passengers on board was infected with measles.
Individuals Present at the Airport During the Risk Window Could Be Exposed
Authorities stated that anyone who was in the airport’s arrivals, customs, and baggage claim areas between 17:45 and 21:00 on 7 May may have been exposed to the virus. Anyone present in these areas during this time frame is now considered to have been in contact with a confirmed measles case.
MSSS warned: “All individuals present in these areas during this time period are considered contacts of the measles case.”
Urgent Call for At-Risk Groups
The MSSS strongly recommends that individuals in the following high-risk groups contact the Info-Santé 811 health advice line immediately:
-
Infants under one year of age
-
Individuals with weakened immune systems
-
Pregnant women who are not adequately vaccinated against measles
Preventive treatment may be offered to these individuals if deemed necessary.
