ANA Holdings (ANAHD), one of Japan’s leading aviation groups, has finalised an agreement with Airbus to purchase 24 A321neo and 3 A321XLR aircraft. This strategic move is seen as a key step in modernising the company’s fleet and supporting its sustainable growth goals.
The order was officially announced during a signing ceremony at the 2025 Paris Air Show, attended by Koji Shibata, Representative Director, President and CEO of ANAHD, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
Under the new agreement, 14 A321neo aircraft will join the All Nippon Airways (ANA) fleet. Additionally, the group’s low-cost carrier, Peach Aviation, will receive 10 A321neo and 3 long-range A321XLR aircraft.
The A321XLR model is noted for having the longest range among single-aisle passenger aircraft. With a capability of flying up to 4,700 nautical miles (approximately 8,700 km) non-stop, Peach Aviation will become the first Japanese airline to operate this aircraft.
Commenting on the order, ANAHD CEO Koji Shibata stated:
“We are pleased to confirm the order of A321neo and our first A321XLR aircraft for our group airlines. We believe this new step will further strengthen our collaboration with Airbus. We are accelerating the integration of environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient aircraft into our fleet to enhance our service to passengers and reduce carbon emissions.”
Speaking on behalf of Airbus, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry said:
“Since its first Airbus order in 1987, ANA has remained committed to the A320 Family, with total orders now nearing 100 aircraft. The addition of the A321XLR for Peach Aviation clearly reflects ANA’s commitment to innovation and its confidence in its low-cost brand.”
