As part of its strategy to modernise the aviation sector, Kyrgyzstan is preparing to launch a major infrastructure initiative. The “Jalal-Abad International Airport”, to be constructed in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region, is expected to make a strong contribution to both regional development and international transport connectivity.
A Giant Project Spanning 381 Hectares
The new airport will be developed on a vast 381-hectare site. At its core will be a two-storey passenger terminal covering 10,000 square metres, designed to accommodate up to 350 passengers per hour. This capacity is expected to significantly ease passenger traffic in the region.
Infrastructure Built to International Standards
The airport will feature a 3,800-metre-long runway, two taxiways, and six aircraft parking stands. It is being designed to handle both passenger and cargo aircraft simultaneously, with all infrastructure developed in line with international civil aviation standards.
Economic and Logistical Impact
Experts believe that the new airport will generate a major economic and logistical boost not only for the Jalal-Abad region but for the entire south of Kyrgyzstan. The project will offer employment opportunities and improved transport access for local communities.
Supported by the State
The project is a key component of the national aviation development strategy spearheaded by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The airport is set to contribute directly to strengthening the country’s international air links and enhancing its tourism potential.
