Turkish Airlines (THY) is facing an international crisis due to the failure to deliver baggage to hundreds of passengers on its Antalya-Moscow flights. Many Russian tourists who arrived in Moscow on flights operated on June 13 and 14 were left without their luggage, leading to major frustration and inconvenience.
According to the Russia-based news platform Mash, the affected passengers took to social media to voice their complaints after failing to receive their luggage. The issue quickly gained traction online and sparked widespread reaction in the Russian public.
Official Investigation Launched in Russia
In response to the incident, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) and the Ministry of Transport of Russia launched a comprehensive investigation. Authorities have demanded that Turkish Airlines return the lost baggage to its owners as soon as possible. They also called for an urgent review of baggage loading and control procedures to prevent similar issues in the future.
Intense Reaction on Social Media
Disgruntled Russian passengers shared their frustrations on various social media platforms, criticising THY for the inconvenience. Many users stated that the situation had negatively impacted their holidays and urged the airline to provide an immediate solution.
Statement from THY Awaited
Turkish Airlines has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. However, given the scale of the backlash and pressure from Russian authorities, a public announcement from the airline is expected soon.
