Lufthansa Express Rail offers passengers a more comfortable and integrated travel experience. From now on, reservations made with Lufthansa Express Rail will include the Deutsche Bahn (DB) City-Ticket. This new service allows passengers to make their journeys more convenient by using local public transport.
Local Public Transport Included
Lufthansa boarding passes will now be valid not only for travel to the Express Rail station but also on local public transport, such as buses, trams, underground trains, and commuter trains. All Lufthansa Express Rail destinations, except Siegburg and Basel, will benefit from this innovation. Passengers will be able to use local public transport before and after their journeys in a total of 26 German cities. The City-Ticket is issued for a one-way trip on the day of validity.
Growing Demand and Expanding Service Network
Demand for Lufthansa Express Rail increases every year. In 2024 alone, approximately 500,000 passengers used this service for arrivals and departures at Frankfurt Airport. With the integration of the City-Ticket, Lufthansa and DB are further expanding intermodal travel options.
Over 20 Years of Collaboration
Lufthansa Express Rail is a significant part of the long-standing collaboration between Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn, which spans over two decades. Passengers can purchase both train and flight tickets with a single reservation, making it easy to access Frankfurt Airport from 28 cities across Germany. Thanks to this collaboration, Lufthansa Express Rail connects twice as many destinations as those served by air travel alone. DB and Lufthansa offer more than 240 ICE connections daily, with Lufthansa flight numbers (codeshare).
Lufthansa Express Rail continues to provide passengers with a comprehensive transportation network, offering sustainable and comfortable travel alternatives.
