Fire on LATAM Aircraft Causes Panic: Disaster Averted at the Last Moment

A fire broke out in the left engine of an A320 aircraft at Santiago Airport, prompting the evacuation of passengers.

A Brazil-based LATAM Airlines Airbus A320-200 aircraft experienced an engine fire in its left engine during taxiing prior to departure on the Santiago–Asuncion route. Thanks to a swift emergency response, the incident was quickly brought under control and all passengers were safely evacuated.

Left Engine Ignites

Flight LA-1325 was preparing to depart from Santiago, the capital of Chile, to Asuncion, Paraguay. As the aircraft was taxiing toward runway 17R, flames were observed coming from the left engine. Airport fire crews quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.

Passengers Safely Evacuated

LATAM Airlines reported that all emergency protocols were immediately activated. The flight was cancelled, and the aircraft was moved to a secure location on the apron. All passengers and crew safely exited the plane, and no injuries were reported.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have launched a technical investigation to determine the cause of the incident. The aircraft’s maintenance records and engine systems will be thoroughly examined. LATAM Airlines stated that they adhere to the highest safety standards and are cooperating fully with relevant authorities to clarify the incident.
