KM Malta Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Malta (MLA) and Istanbul (IST), commencing on 2 June 2025.
The flights to İGA Istanbul Airport (IST) will be operated using the airline’s Airbus A320neo fleet, which has a capacity of 180 passengers. With both Business and Economy Class options available, the service will offer a total weekly capacity of 1,440 seats.
The new route will be operated under a codeshare agreement between KM Malta Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Thanks to this collaboration, passengers will be able to connect through Istanbul to Turkish Airlines’ extensive network, reaching both domestic and international destinations.
David Curmi, Chairman of KM Malta Airlines, highlighted the significance of the new route, stating, “This development underscores our commitment to offering our passengers greater travel opportunities. Given Istanbul’s status as a major global hub, this route will also strengthen trade and tourism between Malta and Turkey.”
Server Aydın, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of İGA Istanbul Airport, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to officially welcome KM Malta Airlines to Istanbul. Thanks to the codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, the Malta-Istanbul route will offer seamless connectivity and a rich variety of travel options for passengers. We believe this partnership will make a significant contribution to the aviation industry.”
This new service will expand KM Malta Airlines’ existing network, which currently includes Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Catania, Düsseldorf, London, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rome, Vienna, and Zurich.
