TUSAŞ Announces Milestones for KAAN, ANKA-3, and HÜRJET: Mass Production and Delivery Schedule Finalized

Turkey’s leading defense industry company, TUSAŞ, continues to surpass critical milestones in its indigenous and national projects. Production and delivery timelines for the KAAN, ANKA-3, and HÜRJET projects have been finalized. TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu shared the latest updates on these projects at the TEKNOFEST TRNC event.

KAAN: Third Flight in 2025, Deliveries in 2028

The domestically produced fighter jet KAAN has reached a significant stage in prototype production. Demiroğlu stated, “KAAN is our pride—not only TUSAŞ’s but all of Turkey’s.”

According to Demiroğlu:

  • The first prototype is expected to complete its third flight by the end of 2025.

  • The second prototype’s first flight is planned for the end of 2026.

  • The third prototype is expected to fly in 2027.

  • An intensive flight test campaign will be launched in 2025 alongside the ground test aircraft.

  • The first KAAN delivery to the Turkish Air Force Command is scheduled for the end of 2028.

ANKA-3: Jet-Powered UAV to Enter Inventory in 2026

Testing for the jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle ANKA-3 is progressing rapidly. Demiroğlu said, “We are continuing tests on ANKA-3 and are on the verge of starting mass production. All our planning is complete. We aim to begin deliveries in 2026.”

ANKA-3 is expected to play a crucial role, particularly in strategic strike and reconnaissance missions.

HÜRJET: First Delivery by End of 2026

The HÜRJET project, Turkey’s first domestically produced jet trainer aircraft, is also advancing quickly.

According to Demiroğlu:

  • HÜRJET has conducted approximately 200 sorties with two prototypes so far.

  • The mass production process has already begun.

  • The first deliveries are targeted for the end of 2026.

Developed as a training aircraft, HÜRJET can also be configured for light attack missions. The project also stands out with its export potential to friendly and allied nations.

2028: A Pivotal Year for Turkey’s National Aerospace Vision

The production and delivery timelines outlined by TUSAŞ align closely with Turkey’s goal to reduce foreign dependency in the defense sector and promote indigenous solutions.

Key targets:

  • KAAN: Testing phase in 2025, first delivery in 2028

  • ANKA-3: Mass production and deliveries in 2026

  • HÜRJET: First delivery by the end of 2026

These projects will position Turkey among the countries possessing domestically produced 5th-generation fighter jets, jet trainer aircraft, and combat-capable unmanned aerial vehicles by 2028.
