A Jet2 flight from Antalya to Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing after passengers panicked due to a “loud explosion sound” and “burning smell.” The aircraft, which took off at 11:45 PM on Tuesday evening, had to return to Antalya Airport shortly after due to technical issues.
A passenger on the flight recounted their terrifying experience to the Manchester Evening News: “Many people were very scared; passengers were vomiting and couldn’t keep their feet on the ground. The lack of information provided on the plane made the situation worse.”
The plane safely landed back in Antalya 90 minutes after takeoff. Jet2 apologized to the passengers for the incident and provided hotel accommodations for all passengers overnight. The airline stated that all necessary precautions were taken to ensure the passengers could reach Manchester safely the following day.
