Romania-based AnimaWings Airlines has launched direct flights to İstanbul Airport from five cities in Romania as of October 2025. With these new routes, the number of airlines operating flights to İstanbul Airport has risen to 115.
Welcome Ceremony for the First Flight at İstanbul Airport
AnimaWings’ inaugural flight on the Bucharest–İstanbul route was welcomed with a special ceremony at Gate B15 of İstanbul Airport.
Officials from İGA İstanbul Airport and AnimaWings attended the ceremony, which concluded with a ribbon-cutting and a commemorative photo session.

Regular Flights from Five Romanian Cities
As of October, AnimaWings has started operating regular flights from various cities in Romania to İstanbul.
According to the new schedule:
- From Bucharest: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday — 5 flights per week
- From Craiova and Timișoara: Monday and Friday — 2 flights per week each
- From Iași: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday — 3 flights per week
- From Cluj-Napoca: Thursday and Sunday — 2 flights per week
With these new flights, AnimaWings connects five Romanian cities directly to İstanbul, strengthening the transportation network between the two countries in both tourism and trade.

İstanbul Airport Hosts Its 115th Airline
With the commencement of AnimaWings flights, the number of airlines operating at İstanbul Airport has reached 115.
This development further solidifies İstanbul Airport’s position as one of Europe’s airports with the broadest international connectivity.
