Temporary Flight Restriction for Tehran FIR
With a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, a temporary flight restriction has been imposed on the country’s airspace. According to the NOTAM, the Tehran Flight Information Region (FIR) has been closed to all air traffic between 14 and 15 January.
Within the scope of the restriction, it was reported that an exception is granted only to civil arrival and departure flights that have received prior authorization.

Special Flight Permission Required
The published NOTAM text emphasizes that airline companies and flight operators wishing to operate flights within the Tehran FIR are required to obtain special flight permission in advance from the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization. It was stated that flights that do not obtain the required permission will absolutely not be allowed to enter Iranian airspace.
No Reason Disclosed
Authorities did not share an official or detailed reason regarding the temporary closure of the airspace. However, it is known that Iran has implemented similar measures in the past generally due to military exercises, security measures, or regional developments.
No official statement has yet been made as to whether the duration of the restriction will be extended.
