One of Europe’s largest aviation innovation gatherings, Plug and Play Vienna Expo 6, brought together leading industry representatives on 8 May. IGA Istanbul Airport was honoured with the prestigious Corporate Innovation Award at the event, recognised for its achievements in the Travel & Hospitality and Smart Cities categories.
This milestone was achieved through the successful implementation of three pioneering Proof of Concept (PoC) projects developed over the past 18 months, which significantly enhanced airport operations and user experience. These projects include:

Robotic and autonomous mobility solutions

AI-powered predictive maintenance systems

AI-based forecasting and workforce optimisation applications
The award was received by Bilal YILDIZ, Senior Manager of Electronic Systems at IGA, who also took part as a speaker at the event. Murat Aydemir, Assistant Manager of Electronic Systems, and the entire project team played key roles in the development and execution of these initiatives.
In his remarks following the award, Bilal YILDIZ stated:
“This award is a testament to IGA’s commitment to technology and innovation, and the international recognition of our efforts. We are progressing steadily on our journey to transform the vision of the airport of the future into reality.”
