DHMİ General Manager Hüseyin Keskin announced that they have developed all necessary measures to facilitate the lives of disabled passengers at airports.
In a social media post commemorating the Disability Week from May 10th to 16th, Keskin stated that they have made necessary arrangements at airports to facilitate the lives of disabled individuals and have taken all precautions. Using the phrase, ‘Because their lives are our lives, their problems are our problems, their happiness is our happiness,’ Keskin emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities to everyone.
Keskin stated that their efforts to make airports more accessible for disabled passengers are ongoing, listing the following arrangements: phones compliant with standards, adjustments eliminating height differences, disabled-friendly entrances and exits, rest areas, and more, making airports barrier-free spaces. Additionally, he noted important services provided at airports such as visual and auditory guidance, tactile flooring, braille embossed buttons, and disabled toilets.
Keskin mentioned the implementation of applications like the ‘Disabled Passenger Survey’ to hear the voices of disabled passengers, and the facilitation of airport transportation with free parking. Lastly, he highlighted that 40 airports have an ‘Accessibility Certificate’ and efforts to improve facilities for disabled passengers are rapidly extending to cover all airports. He expressed their dedication to increasing awareness and continuously improving measures to facilitate the lives of disabled passengers.
