The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) has announced a collaboration between Turkey and Spain under the HÜRJET Jet Trainer Aircraft Program. As part of this collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two countries for Turkey’s domestically produced HÜRJET.
HÜRJET Evaluated in Spain
HÜRJET, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), was thoroughly examined by the Spanish Air Force. As part of the evaluations, HÜRJET’s performance and capabilities were tested at the Torrejon Air Base.
The Spanish Air Force plans to choose HÜRJET to renew its existing jet training fleet. Reports indicate that Spain intends to replace its Northrop F-5 fleet with 24 HÜRJET aircraft. The F-5 fleet is expected to be retired by 2028.

Key Features of HÜRJET:
- Maximum Speed: Capable of reaching approximately 1.4 Mach.
- Service Ceiling: Operates at altitudes up to 45,000 feet.
- Versatility: Can be used for training missions, light attack, close air support, and armed reconnaissance operations.
- Advanced Avionics: Equipped with cutting-edge avionics systems, ensuring impressive performance.

A Significant Step in Turkey-Spain Collaboration
This collaboration, which showcases Turkey’s defense industry capabilities on the international stage, will further strengthen relations between the two countries. HÜRJET’s contribution to the modernization of the Spanish Air Force fleet is considered a major development, boosting Turkey’s presence in defense exports.
