In a tragic accident on Tuesday in Mesa, Arizona, a small plane collided with a car during takeoff, resulting in five fatalities. According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a Honda HA-420 aircraft collided with a vehicle while departing from Mesa Falcon Field Airport. The crash claimed the lives of three adults, a child on board the plane, and the car’s driver.
One passenger on the plane survived and was transported to the hospital with burn injuries.
NTSB and FAA Investigating the Incident
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and FAA have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial findings indicate that the takeoff was aborted, with the aircraft breaching the airport fence and crashing into a car. Investigators will examine aircraft maintenance records, witness statements, security camera footage, and flight data to understand the cause.

The Honda HA-420 HondaJet involved in the crash is a light business jet known for its six-seat capacity and maximum speed of 483 mph. Mesa Fire Department spokesperson Marrisa Ramírez-Ramos expressed that this is a major tragedy for the community, with detailed investigations ongoing.
