To meet the surge in passenger demand during the Eid al-Adha holiday, Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced that it will operate 378 additional flights. At the same time, THY is expanding its international network through strategic partnerships with Icelandair and TAP Air Portugal.

THY Press Advisor Yahya Üstün announced on social media:
“As Turkish Airlines, we have scheduled 378 additional flights until 10 June to accommodate the increased demand during the Eid al-Adha holiday. As the flag carrier, we wish all our passengers a pleasant journey.”

Direct Flights to Iceland Begin

Turkish Airlines has taken its codeshare partnership with Iceland-based Icelandair—ongoing since June 2023—to a new level. According to the new agreement, Icelandair will launch direct flights between Reykjavik and Istanbul starting on 5 September 2025. The route will operate twice weekly during the winter season and will be integrated into THY’s codeshare network, providing enhanced connectivity for outbound flights from Istanbul.

Expanded Network with TAP Air Portugal

Turkish Airlines has also expanded its existing codeshare agreement with one of Europe’s leading carriers, TAP Air Portugal. The enhanced partnership now includes key international destinations such as Brazil, Morocco, Qatar, and Mauritius. In addition, Turkish holiday spots like Dalaman and Bodrum have been added to the joint network. This development is expected to boost tourism and business travel between Turkey and Portugal while strengthening connections to South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Stronger Global Connections

The additional holiday flights and deepened partnerships with international airlines underline Turkish Airlines’ commitment to global expansion. As Turkey’s national flag carrier, THY continues to strengthen its presence in the global aviation sector through digital solutions, an expanding destination network, and strategic collaborations that enhance the overall passenger experience.
