Iraqi Transport Minister Razzaq al-Saadawi announced that Baghdad-Beirut flights will resume on December 30, following a three-week suspension.
According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Minister Saadawi made significant statements regarding the resumption of flights between Iraq and Lebanon.
Facilitating Travel for Lebanese Nationals
Saadawi noted that flights from Baghdad to Beirut were reinstated upon the directive of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, aiming to facilitate travel for Lebanese citizens returning to their country. He emphasized that these flights offer a valuable opportunity for those voluntarily traveling to Lebanon.
Seven Weekly Flights Planned
Plans indicate that seven flights will operate weekly, with the possibility of doubling this number based on demand. The frequency and conditions of the flights will be reassessed considering passenger traffic.
Suspension Due to Developments in Syrian Airspace
It is worth recalling that the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced a temporary suspension of Baghdad-Beirut flights on December 8, citing security concerns in Syrian airspace.
