Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. is set to embark on a strategic partnership with global aerospace giant Rolls-Royce to establish one of the world’s largest authorised engine maintenance centres at Istanbul Airport.
Scheduled to become operational in 2027, this state-of-the-art licensed engine maintenance facility will have the capacity to service 200 engines annually at full capacity. The centre is expected to directly employ 1,000 people and contribute an estimated USD 700 million per year in exports to the Turkish economy.
The new facility will enable Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. to provide comprehensive maintenance services for Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines used on Airbus A350 and A330neo aircraft. In addition to servicing the Turkish Airlines fleet, the facility will also cater to Rolls-Royce’s airline customers worldwide, becoming one of the newest and largest members of the company’s global Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) network.
Set to Become “Europe’s Largest Rolls-Royce Engine Maintenance Facility”
Commenting on the development, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines Technic Inc., stated:
“We are immensely proud to be partnering with a global brand like Rolls-Royce on this important project. Our new facility will not only enhance our engine maintenance capacity but will also earn the distinction of being the largest authorised Rolls-Royce maintenance centre in Europe. This step will boost Turkey’s competitive edge in the aviation sector and contribute directly to our country’s export targets.”
Rolls-Royce: “Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. is an Excellent Partner”
Rob Watson, President of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, made the following statement:
“As part of our goal to significantly expand our global MRO capacity by 2030, we are pleased to welcome Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. into our global maintenance network. This facility will also serve Turkish Airlines’ Airbus A350 fleet and further strengthen our collaboration. This project is a tangible example of our long-term commitment to Turkey and reflects our confidence in the future of this strategic partnership.”
Turkey Advances Towards Becoming a Strategic Hub for Global Aviation
Turkey’s geostrategic location—connecting continents, cultures, and commerce—remains one of the key factors supporting investment in the aviation sector. This new venture, launched in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, will reinforce the leadership of Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. while also serving as a global model of success in the context of Turkey–United Kingdom strategic cooperation.
