France, one of the Western countries increasing military support to Ukraine in its war against Russia, has taken another critical step. To strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, France has delivered the first batch of “Mirage 2000-5” fighter jets.
French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced the completion of the delivery on his social media account. Lecornu stated, “French President Emmanuel Macron announced this delivery last June. Today, the first Mirage 2000 jets sent to Ukraine have reached their destination. Ukrainian pilots, who have been training in France for months, will now defend their country’s skies with these aircraft.”
Number Unknown, But Strategic Importance is High
While the exact number of fighter jets delivered by France has not been disclosed, this move is seen as a significant boost to Ukraine’s air defense capacity against Russia. Previously, in August 2024, Ukraine received its first shipment of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets.
